TAG 5a7: On Speedrunning

Come by for TAG’s 5a7 January edition next week.

Forest Scully-Blaker will tell us about his research on speedrunning, the process of completing a game as quickly as possible without the use of cheats or cheat devices, as both community and practice. To help with his work, he has spent more hours than he would be willing to admit watching livestreams. He has also attempted speedruns of his own and, most recently, conducted extensive interviews at Summer Games Done Quick 2015, a large speedrunning marathon that took place in St. Paul Minnesota. Come on down if you want to learn more about playing games fast or want to offer feedback to research in progress!

A practical note regarding drinks: BYOB&S (this fall the TAG 5a7 beer has been generously sponsored by Critical Hit. Unfortunately not anymore. In the new year please bring your own drinks and snack.)
