Earlier this year I passed the exams to work in biolabs across Canada. This means I am certified to work in Milieux’s biolab without supervision. Building on my dissertation project with vibrotactile motors and games, I started a project on how vibrations affects the life of ‘microscopic’ living environments (serratia bacteria and kombucha). Perhaps the connection between game design and biology is not obvious for everyone. However, I sometimes think of my practice of making games as that of creating temporary in living environments which, on a conceptual level, has a lot of similarities to a bio art practice. Unfortunately, this work is currently on hold as we do not have access to the lab during the COVID lockdown.
