For 12 weeks during the summer of 2011 we ran a pilot game incubator program in collaboration with Dawson College and with support from the Office of Research, the President’s Initiative Fund, Hexagram and the GRAND NCE. Four teams of participants were selected to develop game prototypes to an industry “presentation” level with the help industry mentors and TAG staff. The program was a terrific success and in addition to spawning a new pilot proposal (which was not funded) and a revised MELS Chantier 3 grant proposal with Dawson, the experience has helped spur research efforts in independent game development and enhance our relationships with community-based developers and students across the city.
