Happy New Year!
Though it’s a bit of a late start for us, LEVEL UP is back and this time we’ve got a Unity workshop for all you lovely folks!
What:
This workshop is going to cover the fundamentals of making a 3D game in Unity, with no prior knowledge of game making or programming needed! We will cover:
- scene creation
- character controllers
- importing and using premade assets
- object collision & interaction
- scripted goals and win states
By the end you’ll have a simple game that you built yourself, a small library of reference scripts and assests that you’ll know how to use and reuse, and the knowledge base to get you started creating your own games! This workshop will also feature a very cool skateboarding bird as our main character.
When/Where:
The workshop will be taking place on Monday, Feburary 13th from 6 PM – 8 PM in good ol’ EV 11.425 at Concordia University (NB: We may change rooms depending on the size of the group).
Participants must bring:
– Your own laptop with Unity installed.
About the workshop leader:
Hope Erin Phillips is a self taught programmer, game dev, & new media artist. They started making video games during their BFA as a rebellion against video art class and hasn’t stopped since. Hope is currently working on two games: one about dogs + feelings, and the other about magic + feelings. You can see/play their work here.
