Alex and Michael from the Residual Media Depot will be hosting a workshop on GB Studio – a free drag-and-drop game creation tool that lets you export your games online or as Game Boy ROM files.
Homebrew design for outmoded videogame consoles is not a new phenomenon, but GB Studio, as an open source program, is perhaps the first accessible tool for participating in the practice. This type of development raises intriguing questions about unauthorized additions to existing game libraries and the afterlife of videogame hardware such as the Nintendo Game Boy.
