TERI RUEB LISTENING TO LAND: LOCATIVE MEDIA AS PLACE-BASED KNOWING

This talk will survey a selection of mobile media sound walks created over the past ten years of Dr. Rueb’s practice, focusing on works that build upon narratives drawn from and written back into the land. Anchored in the land and revealed through visitors’ individual movements and interactions with the environment, these works bring attention to place-based and sonic–ways of knowing.

Teri Rueb is Professor, Department of Media Study at SUNY Buffalo, and Director of the Open Air Institute
