EVENT – RHoK and Mont Royal Game Society

Posted by janetingley

In early June TAG hosted The Random Hacks of Kindness, a game jam to create games for social change – a project created and directed by Angelique Mannella.  For those of you who missed the event and wanted to know more, some of the teams will be demoing their games from that weekend at the Mont Royal Game Society’s July Jamboree.  The event will be held on July 4th at 7:30 pm at Brasserie Artisanale l’Amère à boire – 2049 rue Saint-Denis, 3rd floor.  Everyone is welcome!!

Most (and hopefully all) of the winning games from RhoK will be there…

  • Doctor W.H.O. (Winner: Jury’s Pick) – Resistor 7. A matching puzzle game where players must manage their limited resources to address the varying needs of those seeking aid (food, water, and medicine).
  • UNICEF Build a School (Winner: Social Impact) – Team Plumpy Nuts. A Facebook management game that invites players to take on the challenges of building and managing a school in an underdeveloped area.
  • Save the Worlds: Burrito Edition (Winner: Audience Favourite) – Snail Team. A storytelling adventure game that tells the tale of a snail on a mission to save the world(s).

So hopefully you can make it!

If you are more interested in Angelique’s projects – she is up on the 11th floor Hexagram Game lab everyday with her team of young humanitarians working on Games for Social Change, which is an Incubator from June 4th to August 31st.
