In fall 2012 I taught an undergraduate course on “Cheating, Games and the Ethics of Play Media.” As part of the class, students were required to create digital games that explored some issue or topic relative to moral or ethical dilemmas. We used the ChoiceScript platform to create text-based games that experimented in some way with the issues being read about and discussed in class. Everyone went through at least two iterations of their game, and turned in working prototypes with interesting narratives and a variety of strategic challenges. Those games are assembled here. I’ve also written a post mortem about the course and the experience of trying this assignment for the first time, accessible here. Please play and enjoy our games!
