5a7 – Digital Humanities: Who, How, Whaaat?

TAG is proud to invite you for a series of 5 a 7 showcasing its stellar members’ ongoing research.

Dr. Lai-Tze Fan will be discussing the digital humanities–what it is (what is it?!), who’s doing it, and how it can be applied to traditional literary studies. In particular, she will consider the affordances and limitations of digital tools for studying literary texts in research and the classroom, offering examples relating to:

  • canonical texts
  • contemporary texts
  • texts that are not “even books at all”

Distinguishing herself as a critical digital humanist, Fan is intent on making sure that the larger humanities project doesn’t rely on digital tools for methodological prowess alone, and that DH research is responsible in remembering the “H.”
