In Conversation with Alex Custodio, Author of Who Are You? Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance Platform

On Thursday November 5th at 4:00pm, TAG welcomes Alex Custodio for a question and answer session about her new book, Who Are You? Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance Platform. The latest entry in the MIT’s platform studies series, Who Are You? explores the Game Boy Advance platform as a computational system and cultural artifact — from its 2001 release through hacks, mods, emulations, and homebrew afterlives.

A member of Concordia University’s Residual Media Depot and Media History Research Centre, Alex’s past research topics include Wii console modding, Nintendo-developed knitting programs, homebrew game engines, and much more. In this free-form Q&A session, guests will be able to engage in discussions on technology, nostalgia, and academic publishing.
