Global Speaker Series – Poornima Seetharaman

TAG is happy to announce the next instalment of our new online speaker series, Rethinking Playfulness! Join us in listening to perspectives on game design, playfulness and storytelling!

Our upcoming guest speaker is Poornima Seetharaman. Poornima has been part of the gaming industry in India for 15+ years and is currently the Director of Design at Zynga. Poornima will give a talk and answer your questions about her journey, influences, and the Indian gaming industry on March 21st, 2022 at 10am EST on Zoom. (Please RSVP for event link)

Speaker: Poornima Seetharaman

Poornima is a game designer, founder of Women in Games India, Women in Games Ambassador at WIGJ, and a Hall of Fame Inductee at the Global WIG Awards 2020, making her the first Indian game developer to receive such an honour. Poornima will share her journey, her roots in India, her passion for games, and how gaming can create a meaningful and impactful change in the world.

Poornima Seetharaman has been part of the gaming industry for over 15 years and essayed roles varying from Game Designer to Producer to Studio head and Entrepreneur. She has been part of companies like Indiagames (Disney India), Jumpstart, GSN Games etc. She is currently a Director of Design at Zynga. She has worked on franchises like BioShock Mobile, How to Train your Dragons, Neopets, and FarmVille 2: Country Escape to name a few. She is the Women in Games Ambassador at WIGJ , the founder of Women in Games India (WIGIN), and a Hall of Fame Inductee at the Global WIG Awards 2020, making her the first Indian game developer to receive such an honour.

Poornima is also visiting faculty, project consultant and curriculum committee member at the National Institute of Design as well as conducts workshops for other reputed institutes. She has curated, judged and spoken at various design festivals and conferences like TEDx, Pocket Gamer Connects etc. She is also one of the mentors of Google’s Indie Game Accelerator.
